What is reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique.
“Rei” translates to “universe” or “life force,”
“Ki” translates to the physical energy of the body.
Together, Reiki translates to “universal life force energy.”
Usui Reiki was created by Dr Mikao Usui during the early 20th century and it is the main form of reiki practiced throughout the world today.
Reiki is a complementary therapy and health approach to life.
It is a holistic system channelling the flow of energy within the body to dissolve blockages and promote the body’s own self-healing on all levels to restore balance & harmony to the person’s emotions, body, mind, & spirit.
It will encourage personal and spiritual awareness and growth. It is a hands on non-intrusive, safe and gentle healing technique. It does not directly cure an illness or disease, but it will help a person to manage their symptoms and improve their general well-being.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands either directly on you or just above you to bring about healing. The belief is that the practitioner channels energy through their hands and is able to stimulate your body’s natural healing abilities.
Reiki healings are suitable for all ages from pregnancy and pregnant mums, new-born babies, children, teenagers, adults and the elderly. It is suitable for most health situations.
What can Reiki help with and the benefits
Here are a few examples of what Reiki can help to heal
Reiki releases blockages within our body, enabling our own energy to flow freely and heal from within. It heals an emotional, physical, mental and spiritual level. As we go about our lives in today’s hectic and chaotic world our energies can become quite weakened with not much left for our own self-healing and at times like this it is a good idea to have a Reiki treatment to clear the energy pathways and restore balance and harmony within.
How to prepare for your Reiki Treatment
Wear clothing that is not too warm, comfortable, clean, and loose-fitting. You will be asked to remove any glasses, belts, ties, shoes, and jewellery before your treatment. Turn your phone off.
What Happens in your Treatment
What to expect after your appointment
Your Practitioner will have a chat with you to discuss anything that may have popped up for you. It can be a good idea to note anything after your treatment and over the next few days. You should drink plenty of water after your treatment. Some people feel calm, peaceful, energized others may also feel tired. Remember an hour of Reiki is the equivalent of eight hours sleep. Additional treatments maybe recommended.
